About Ed

Ed Putnam has a heart for helping others grow spiritually, emotionally and mentally, to live fuller and more enriching lives.

Ed owns and operates Christian Counseling Services, and has done so since 1998.  His main office is in Holdrege, NE, and as of January, 2006, has opened up a branch office in McCook, NE.  Ed's heart is to serve those in need, bringing them hope and restoration through sharing God's healing power, forgiveness, and grace, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Ed received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Counseling Ministries from Ottawa University, Ottawa, KS in 1978, and earned his Masters Degree in Community Counseling with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA in 1993.  He received his license from Nebraska in 1996.  He also received a certification in Domestic Violence Counseling and Training from Duluth MN. in 1995.  He is available to speak at conferences and workshops on the profile of a batterer and on domestic violence.

Ed is part of NewLife Live Network of counselors.  His specialties include working with troubled couples with relational problems; men who batter; individuals with anger management issues (which differs from domestic violence counseling); men with sexual addiction issues and other male issues; children and teens and parents of children with ADHD and other behavioral issues; and individuals with spiritual issues.  Ed's true God-given strength is the ability to discern what the core issue is, and bring it to light, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  He has been told from clients that he knows just what to say and when to say it, having a great insight into their soul. Thus, Ed helps restore or bring spiritual, emotional, and mental wholeness into a person's life.

Ed has three grown children, and resides in Holdrege, NE with his bride of 30 years.  He believes in miracles, because he says she has put up with him that long.  He enjoys using humor whenever possible, for laughter is good for the soul.  He enjoys reading books related to Eschatology, (the study of end times); listening and/or participating in praise and worship music.  He has started numerous praise and worship groups in different churches, sings, plays the piano and drums.  He leads praise and worship workshops in different churches, teaching worship leaders and groups the true meaning of worship thorugh music.  He says worship music, for him, is the key to unlocking the soul and moves us towards, as well as reflects our intimacy in Christ.  Ed has a green thumb and enjoys taking care of close to 30 house plants, as well as much greenery and a big garden during the growing season.  He loves to spend time in the Word and learning how to become more Christ-like in day-to-day living.
